Boy help is completely necessary!!!! HELP!!!!?

There is this guy In my homeroom that I have liked for some time. One day he told me he likes my friend!!! Bummer! He is also kinds nervous to ask her out so he wants me to tell him a specific date to ask. But I don't want him to ask her! So I wentto my friend and asked her if she would say yes to him and she is not interested because she likes someone else! That's good for me but what should I tell this guy? And what should I do to get him to ask me out?
