Cannot figure out the viewpoint in in's creed 2 that is on the building SW of Leonardo's shop in Venice?

The building looks like a church and has a comp shaped symbol on the north and south sides. I can get up to the tower itself, but I cannot figure out how to get more than 10 or so feet up the tower. Please be as detailed as you can. Thank you in advance
