Whats the difference between driving these two cars?

my parents ae concerned that the car i just bought would be too much car for me to handle so they "suggest" i sharpen my drivin skills again by using their car. what they have is a 2002 ford excursion that weighs 4 tons and hs power brakes and steering with automatic. my car im in love with, that i just bought is a 1962 ford galaxie. it doesnt have power steering power brakes ac and the original radio doesnt work. even though the galaxie has a big v8 for its year, it still weighs 4,000 pounds less than the excursion. why do they think the excursion is safer to drive or be in a crash when its the opposite. i am driving the restored galaxie each day to work
